LOOK TO THE RAINBOW

 ‘Something to Believe in Something’ adopts the idea of inevitable financial failure as a ‘belief system’ through which dreams, rather than success, can take hold. The project is an artwork created as an app for a smartphone. As a start-up company, we adopt the economic system of creating capital, but use it to make art that upholds an ideal, belief and dreams over gross profit. 

 

The app predicts the likelihood of rainbows based on GPS location, and allows its users to know when and where a rainbow will occur. It serves as a tool for tracking rainbows, and creates a social platform of ‘rainbow seekers’ on which photos and videos can be shared. Furthermore, each time the app generates enough revenue; the money gained will be used to ‘paint the sky blue’, based on the popular hopeful saying.
